About mormor

What does mormor mean?
The name “mormor” means “grandma” in Swedish. It was inspired by the image of a home-like, warm and secure nanny service like “grandma’s house”. Sweden is the most active country in the world in terms of women’s participation in society. The name was chosen in the hope that Japanese women will be more active in society like Sweden.
What makes mormor special?
mormor wants working moms to have a refreshment moment in daily life. With this in mind, we offer a simple service with a clear and easy fee structures. (no options such as housekeeping, etc.)
What kind of babysitters/kids sitters do you have at mormor?
In addition to qualified staff such as childcare workers, housewives with childcare experience, students aiming to become childcare workers, and grandparents with grandchildren, so many talented staff are available at mormor to babysit.
The head office is responsible for matching sitters to ensure that each staff member’s skills/experience are taken into account and that they are placed appropriately.
Do you have insurance?
mormor is covered by indemnity insurance in case of emergencies.

About the membership system

What are the benefits of membership?
Babysitting/kids sitting services are available for a membership fee of 2,100 yen per hour (per person).

・Those who want to have a second place to leave their children other than the preschool or school, for example, because their father is busy or their parents are far away.
・Those who expect to use the service continuously, such as a few times a month to regular use.

About your request

I am not yet a member, but can I make an urgent request?
If you reply to the form sent to you via email as soon as possible, we can accommodate your request on short notice. However, please note that we may not be able to arrange a sitter for you depending on the area and time you wish to visit.
How long does it take to receive a reply when I make a request through the reservation form?
In principle, we will contact you within 1 business day. Please note that it may take a few days to confirm your request for the next month or on a regular basis.
Will you always adjust the sitter when I ask for one?
We are unable to make 100% adjustments depending on your request and the time of year. We recommend early booking to ensure arrangements are made.
How far in advance do I need to make a request?
We can adjust 90% of requests up to one week in advance, but during busy periods and long holidays, this is subject to the availability of the sitter. If your request is urgent, please call us to confirm availability.
Can I request a pick-up service only?
It’s possible. However, if you do not meet the minimum usage time (2 hours: members, 3 hours: spot), you still need to pay for the service for the minimum time. Please note that we do not offer train or bus transportation for preschoolers. They must be picked up on foot or by taxi.
What are the areas supported?
Tokyo’s 23 Wards and suburban areas (Musashino City, Chofu City, Mitaka City, Komae City, part of Kawasaki City, and part of Yokohama City) If you are in other areas, please contact us.

About Sitting

Do you provide care for sick children?
We do not provide care for sick children. We might be able to provide care for children who are recovering (except for infectious diseases) after asking about their condition.
Please note that there is a possibility that your child may be asked to go home early, if your child becomes unwell during a sitting.
Can you do any housework while babysitting?
We do not provide any housekeeping services (room cleaning, laundry, cooking, pet care, etc.) other than child care.
Does the baby sitter change every time?
We will do our best to give preference to experienced or nominated sitters, but please note that we may not be able to accommodate your request depending on the schedule.
Do I need to prepare meals while babysitting?
We don’t have a sitter to prepare meals, so please bring their own food, drinks and snacks. You don’t need to prepare meals for sitters.
Can I use the service not only for my child but also with my friend’s child?
Friends and cousins can stay together for a sibling sitting fee, however, you will need to provide us with child information sheets for each child.
Is there an age limit for children?
We can take care of children from 10 days old to 6th grade. However, there is a limited number of sitters available for newborn babies. Please contact us for more information.
Can a parent or grandparent be at home?
It is possible. Please let us know who will be at home at the time of your appointment.
What would you do in the event of a disaster or emergency while babysitting?
In case of disaster: we will evacuate with your child to the evacuation site we have asked in advance.
In case of emergency such as sickness or injury: After giving first aid, we will contact the parents and take your child to a hospital if necessary. Depending on the situation, we may ask your child to return home early. The sitter will be responsible for your child’s safety until the handover.

About fees and payment

What is the approximate cost of transportation?
Please expect to pay around 1,000 yen for this service. The maximum round-trip cost of a sitter’s train is 1,300 yen, and there will be no further charges. ※Taxi and bus fees are not included. Please note that we may not be able to arrange a sitter in your area depending on the timing of your request.
When do I pay the fee?
●members:
The invoice will be sent to you by email at the beginning of the following month. Please pay the invoice by credit card or bank transfer by the 15th of the following month. We will also charge you for the sitter’s transportation fee as well as the sitter’s advance payment. No money will be exchanged with sitters.
●Single use members:
We will send you an invoice via email after you use the service. The payment must be made by credit card by the specified date.
Accepted credit cards: VISA and Master.
When do I give my discounted tickets to you?
Please give it to your sitter at the time of drop off or at the end of the day.
Please make sure that you have checked all the information in the discount ticket section of the sitting report that you will receive from the sitter at the end of the session.
Will you issue me a receipt?
It is possible. After payment is confirmed, we will attach a receipt with an email.
